Freshly back from a tour across the United Kingdom with The Blackout, Equal Vision recording artist Pierce The Veil are continuing their trek with labelmates (and fellow Reybee Production clients) Chiodos in support of their recently released debut A Flair for the Dramatic.

This album, released on Sept. 4 on Equal Vision Records, whisks the listener away to a magical place full of thundering mountains, haunted forests, pirate ships and any other visual that would make a small child cry out in fear, or make a poet smile.

This Saturday at Pop's, screamo reigned. Not just any group of four, these bands have all released albums in the last few months. "Bone Palace Ballet" the latest from Chiodos, debuted at #5 on the Billboard charts.

And the Lord said unto Moses atop Mount Sinai, "If thou has not experienced the Chiodos, thou has not lived." Now it's possible that the origin of that statement is slightly off-kilter, but stating that Chiodos sold out the hefty Club Infinity Saturday night on their name alone is proven fact.

Everyone knows what I’m talking about (and certainly everyone has one of their own): a band you know you probably shouldn’t like. One that you never admit to listening to and one you are afraid to confess your admiration for, even to your closest friends. Well, for me that band is Chiodos.

Whether they’re gearing up for one of their sold-out shows or being stuck in the middle of the desert for an upcoming spread in Blender magazine, it seems these guys are some of the busiest fellows in the music scene today.

Much like Fall Out Boy, Chiodos have built an unprecedented following without much help from the mainstream. Working the Warped stages and dozens of smaller circuits are paying off. But also like Fall Out Boy, they aren't getting much respect in the process.

Chiodos are nothing special. Since 2002 the New Jersey six-piece have been churning out their brand of odd rock but -a few attention-grabbing riffs, the odd dynamic vocal flair and one brilliant song about Dawson’s Creek aside- they’ve only ever been uniform and unremarkable.

The term "versatile" often gets applied to young, post-hardcore bands when the members display impressive dexterity over their instruments, hopping from one hyper-technical guitar riff and intricate drum pattern to the next in rapid, often unpredictable fashion.
